Where We Are Traveling In 2026

Where We Are Traveling In 2026

This is where The Traveling Professor plans to take his small group tours in 2026.  Join us!

Iceland:  The Northern Lights are in a phase where they have been spectacular for the last 6 months or so and will continue to be for the next year or two.  This is one of our most popular trips and will be offered again in 2026.

Oslo and Norway by Scenic Rail and Ferry:  What a trip this is!  Visit Oslo, one of the most under-rated cities in Europe.  Then, take the spectacular train ride from the fjord, into the mountains, and back down into the fjords.  In Flam, stay at the fantastic Fretheim Lodge in a fjord-view room.  After a few days of R&R, train it to the charming Hanseatic city of Bergen.

Austria and Bavaria by Scenic Rail:  Another one of our favorites.  If Oslo is an under-rated city, so is Vienna.  Full of music, culture and good food, this city is a pleasure to get around on its easy-to-use tram system.  We take the train to traditional Salzburg.  From there we do a day trip to Hallstatt and there is even time for the fun-filled "Sound of Music Tour".  You won't be able to get the songs out of your head.   We hop on the train to the Tyrol section of Austria and visit Innsbruck - you will be yodeling before you know if.  Finish it all off in Munich with maybe a beer and a bratwurst.

The Gems of Northern Ireland:  Everyone loves this tour, they just love it!  We go to every inch and corner of the Emerald Isle from Dublin to Belfast to the Wild Atlantic Way and to Killarney and Cork County.  You might even see a sheep or two.  Tons of fun on this one.

Normandy Invasion Beaches:  Step in the sand where our heroes landed on that fateful day of June 6, 1944.  This is a comprehensive tour of all 5 landing beaches.  For fun, we throw in Giverny, the home and Gardens of Monet and a day trip to fabulous Mont St Michel.  Everyone loves this tour.

Croatia Small Ship Cruise:  Island hop across the Adriatic Sea on a deluxe ship reserved for our group and our group only.  This trip is a favorite of many of our travelers and you need to see why. Hvar, Split, Dubrovnik are all ports of call on this cruise.

Peru, Machu Picchu and the Amazon:  #1 on the bucket list.  A 2-day visit in luxury to scenic Machu Picchu.  But wait!  You will enjoy the Amazon jungle even more.

Edinburgh and the Scottish Highlands by Scenic Rail:  One of our top trips, this will be offered as one of the best places to travel in 2026.  Start in Inverness and day trip it to the Isle of Skye, Dunrobin Castle, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle.  Are you a Highlander fan?  This is the place to be.  We travel by scenic rail to Edinburgh.  Visit Edinburgh Castle and the rest of this historic city.  Day trips to the Borders and St. Andrews.

Christmas Markets of Austria:  This is a new tour offering.  In the U.S., we have nothing like the European Christmas markets.  Vienna features over 30 markets in the city.  Plus there is the charm of Vienna.  Follow it up with beautifully decorated and Christmas-themed Salzburg.

Finally, in December of 2026 we offer the Christmas Markets of Montreal and Quebec City.  In Quebec City we stay at the fabulous Le Chateau Frontenac.  Celebrate the holidays up north in these delightful cities.

Are you on our mailing list?  If you are, you will get first notice when these tours are formally announced.
